From Dry to Sweet… A Brief Look at Messina Hof’s Rieslings

With the first vintage being released in 1984, Riesling holds a special place in Messina Hof’s history. Not only is Riesling a German varietal, but the “Hof” portion of Messina Hof refers to Hof, Germany where founder Merrill Bonarrigo’s family roots come from. Throughout the years, Messina Hof’s Riesling has won over 200 awards with Angel being the first Texas wine to make a 90 in the Wine Spectator. Today, Messina Hof creates 3 different style Rieslings ranging from dry to sweet.

Here’s a look at our Rieslings…

Dry Style Riesling: This dry style Riesling is refreshingly crisp and vibrant with aromas of citrus blossom and melon. Flavors of green apple and lime are balance with subtle tons of minerality.

Father and Son Riesling Riesling, Tribute to Heritage: This semi-dry Riesling has fresh, delicate floral aromas and flavors of honeysuckle, green apple and citrus zest. The Father & son Cuvée is in honor of Riesling being the first wine made by partnership of Paul VI and VII Bonarrigo.

Angel Riesling, Late Harvest: A crisp, sweet dessert wine harvested from the last pick of Riesling when the grapes are like raisins in order to capture flavors of apple, pear and honey.
